Tacy Jones - Jewelry

Picture
My family and I have been rockhounds for the past 30 years. 10 years ago my husband and I acquired used lapidary equipment and from the rough rock began to design natural stone jewelry, beads and buttons.
There are several processes that the stone goes through before my work is complete. This includes cutting, shaping, drilling, sanding, grinding and buffing. With a 14” diamond saw blade I cut a slab off the rough rock. I examine it, identifying interesting patterns and colors. From there I determine the shape and size of the piece. The transformation from rough rock to a finished piece is always fascinating.
