Nolene Triska Watercolor, Mixed Media

As an artist, I’ve tried to learn to see, whether in the world or in my mind’s eye. My work ranges from the very large to the very small. Many of my pieces are an attempt to create a tiny, believable window into an imaginary but convincing place.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t at first. My original intentions may not have been met and my expectations may have to change, but being an artist has taught me to carry on and to never give up on a piece: I have to trust myself and keep going. If I do—if I let go of preconceived notions and just trust myself— I get to enjoy the surprise ending and gain a deeper appreciation for the creative process. It’s sometimes painful, but always exciting!
